Message from the photographer

It all started with a skateboard in the late 90's. I picked up a camera and started photographing my friends. I memorized Thrasher and Transworld, studied Brittain, Blabac, Atiba, spent my afternoons in a darkroom, and had dreams of making my own skateboard magazine. However, somewhere along my path I started studying Ansel, Galen, Weston and felt a pull towards nature photography and fine art landscape images. While I still enjoy rolling around a piece of wood with four wheels, I now find myself most comfortable waiting behind the lens of my camera, preparing to capture what nature offers.

Whether you're here just to visit or here looking for a custom piece of artwork, I hope you've enjoyed you're stay and come back soon.

Cheers

John W Braukman IV

A few weeks ago, I contacted Matt at @hiddenlightllc to have three of my black and white photographs printed using the platinum and palladium process. This process dates back to the late 1800’s and uses platinum and palladium, a negative & UV light to expose the paper. I've been interested in this process for quite a while and thrilled to finally have a few done. You can head over to Hidden Light and watch these prints get made. The prints arrived in my mailbox yesterday so I scanned them into my computer last night so I can share. The final prints are amazing in hand and I cant wait to learn how to make these BIG. SUNSPOT While sitting at the park one day, @kris_markovich and I had an idea to collaborate on some art together using my photography and his paintbrush. We’ve been kicking around a lot of different ideas and this is the first. For this one, I made a 40x50 Fuji Matte print of a sunrise photograph from St Augustine and gave it to Kris to paint on in his studio. Kris is close friend and I’m a big fan of his art and skateboarding and absolutely love what he created. I ended up photographing the finished piece and we made a small run of 25 prints which are now available on krismarkovich.com. The prints are 11x14 on Moab Entrada Bright Rag and are matted to fit a 16x20 frame. John 📷 🛹

Approaching Storm Panoramic Honeymoon Island State Park May 18, 2026 Nikon Z7 + N 24-70 The day after this photograph was taken, I read an article that Jupiter was visible around sunset. I was a little bummed because I didn’t remember seeing it while I was out photographing, but after editing the photo both the crescent moon and Jupiter did make a cameo (in the clouds above the sunset) - my old eyes just didn’t see them in real time.
